Zbigniew (Zibby) M. Sokolowski born in Poland. Graduate PWSP (National Vivid College) in Lodz (Poland) and Henryk Cendrowski's School of Painting from 1981.

For many years he was associated with the clothing industry. That time had been another of his searching periods, whose painting achievements expressed both: contemporary esthetic distractions and dilemmas, as well as his own approach to his feelings and images. He didn't stop searching and still was looking for the forms of expressions that would restore the sensibility in the spectators, which were lost in everyday life.

In 1999 his life leads him to the Land of America. America changes his personality entirely. The feeling of loneliness and spiritual lostness results in his transformation, but at the same time he picked up a new wave in his painting. The color and the shadow have taken over in his art work. He adopts cubism in his own ways by creating collage using natural leaves of plants in combination with acrylics.
The changes of internal inclinations and varied emotions become the driving engine of his work. Each of his deep emotions forced him to create.

Painting is a tremendous part of his life. Painting before life, or life before painting? Painting comes from life, but not life from painting. To paint something one has to live it.

Zibby's art expresses his everyday encounters. To him art is the life's emotion like the friendship, love, being someone, touching the reality through the nature, breathing fully. Through observation of the surrounding world he absorbs all of the stimuli around him. He observes and sees everything that can not be seen. He collects and inhales awareness of things, everything that appears to him, but often rejects it. That creates emotions within him which give him subjects to work with. The emotions and fascinations with nature drive his work to create collages with leaves. Leaves in connection with acrylics give the viewer feeling of wind. blowing, or time passing by, since time for Sokolowski is something that can't be borrowed or saved. The only thing one can do with it, is to use it to see the purity blends with impurities, innocence with sexuality, fascination with desire. We can see all that in Zibbi's portraits, in his flowers- white calias. White flower-immaculate like nun's starched cornet. It's virginal white flower opens up and invites to show the intimate inside, out of which comes shameless pistil, awakening erotic arrangements.
